Regular meeting by Veterans Committee takes place on November 8

A regular meeting of the Committee on Affairs of Veterans, Combatants, ATO Participants, and Disabled People took place on November 8.

A regular meeting of the Committee on Affairs of Veterans, Combatants, ATO Participants, and Disabled People took place on November 8. Participants: Oleksandr Tretiakov, Maksym Burbak, Glib Zagoriy, Shukhevych Jurij, Yevhen Yuriiovych Rybchynskyi, Mykhailo Gavryliuk.

During the meeting the participants considered draft bill No. 7161 submitted by parliamentarians Viktor Siumar, Oleksandr Tretiakov and Serhiy Rudyk “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine” regarding disability category for participants of Anti-Terrorist Operation”. It is stipulated in the draft bill that the persons who suffered injury, blast injury, trauma, or health problems while participating in ATO, or upper/lower limbs amputees who became disabled are eligible for the disability category for life and of a higher level. The Committee decided to recommend the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to accept the draft bill as a basis on the first reading.

Also, the Committee considered the following issues: “On the 10 months progress in 2017 of the Law of Ukraine “On State Budget of Ukraine for 2017” related to implementing budget programs for social protection of veterans, participants of ATO and Dignity Revolution, and persons with disabilities” and “On information provided by Accounting Chamber of Ukraine about the results of the efficiency audit that covered state programs and activities focused on professional rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilities”.

Moreover, the Committee supported the proposal by Maksym Burbak, the First Deputy Head of the Committee, to form a project team who will work with legislative amendments to group internally displaced people among the ATO participants in a separate cluster.
